Reinvent your Internet Experience - Gene Balmain
Not a lot of people ask me this.. but I sure wish they would. “What Internet Browser should I use?” Or maybe the question should be “What is the single one thing I can do to improve my Internet Experience?” The answer is Firefox 3.0.
These days it is unheard of buying a computer that doesn't already have an Internet browser (of some sort) installed. Microsoft and Apple insist that the Internet can only be viewed using their software. In some very narrow cases, this can be true.
My wife works for a large international IT company. She has no freedom as to what software she uses to perform her daily job. There are strict controls as to what she can and can't do with her company computer. It is a different story when she uses her home computer.
She, along with nearly 8 million delighted users (and me) recently, upgraded to Firefox 3.0. This is available for FREE at

Being self-employed, I don't have corporate imposed restrictions as to what software I can use on my work computers... I've been using Firefox since version 1.0. It really is an incredible piece of software.
Many of the Internet nightmare stories of malicious computer attacks, identity theft, and viruses were hackers exploiting known security holes in the Microsoft's browser. That was one of the main reasons why I was an early adopter of Firefox. And, to date, I've never encountered any computer attacks via a Firefox browser.
Not only does Firefox protect me from the typical “Microsoft” style attacks, but it also speeds up my Internet Experience. I'm reminded of this fact whenever I use Microsoft Internet Explorer (MSIE) on somebody else's computer. Their browser is slow to load and feels as if you are pushing a boulder around your screen when moving from site to site. Until recently, I just assumed I had a real fast computer and Internet connection. As matter of fact, the faster Internet speed was due to the Firefox browser I was using.

Personally I've never been a big fan of unwanted music and video ads running when I surf the Internet. It has become fashion to design web pages with audio & video junk instead of useful content. To avoid this and other problems, I've installed a simple “Flash Blocker” into my Firefox browser. From that point forward, it was like I discovered a whole new Internet. When an Adobe Flash animation or video appears, I get a big “F” where the content is on the page. If I want to see the latest GEICO insurance ad, I can easily click to view it. This add-on is available at:

If you have never installed a program on your computer or don't feel comfortable doing so, have your “computer person” install Firefox. A broadband Internet connection installation of Firefox and the Flash Blocker should easily take less than 15 minutes. Once you have Firefox 3.0 installed, I'm sure you will agree you won't go back to the Internet Browser that came with your computer. Type in this link to learn even more about Firefox 3.0:
