One post in the comments section asked, "what are the moose doing in your backyard??"
The person who took the video replied, "Here in Alaska, we are in their backyard ;) "
More comments from the videographer
"They were thirsty and there is a creek down the street. I'm not sure why they didn't head down there that day. Also, the scars are how we keep track of her throughout the year."
"The mother was breathing so hard that day and when we realized that she was hot, I put the sprinkler out for them. The babies were so excited that they would run within 5 feet of us and played in the sprinkler about 30 minutes. That is why the camera angle is so close."
"Actually we were on the porch and within 20 yards of them (close enough to the door to make a hasty retreat if needed.) They didn't show any concern at our presence. It is really rare that moose charge humans and usually only if hemned in or being harrassed. These and other moose frequent the yard often. Playtime in the sprinkler just made the best video."
Alaska is one place I want to goto in the next few years. Maybe one day.. a photo voyage via a small boat cruise to Kenai Fjords and a railway trip up to Denali
