First Time in Vegas
Posted On 01/18/2008 19:06:33 by JanHyde

So my girlfriend says to me, maybe I should start using some of my vacation time to actually, you know, go on vacation. Not having had a holiday since I was a kid I figure it would be a good idea.

I have a budget for flights, hotels and spending money. I give her my card and say 'book' something. Well, she spends the entire budget on a trip to Vegas. I worry about the lack of spending money and the well, me? Vegas? Thats for for folks with serious cash. And besides, I'm not gambler.

But it's Vegas... If I never go anywhere else then hell, I've been to Vegas.

Not only that but I've never been on a plane. Now I'm not sure if I have a problem with flying or not. I've never done it so how do I know. Somehow our passports slid out of our bag, during the flight we notice this. Great. We're gonna go all the way from the UK to the US and get turned right back. Oddly I don't care. I don't know what I'm missing and well, I've still technically been to america.

Almost at the same moment a women comes up to us and hands us our passports. Sure enough they had slid back down the plane and the people who found them made the effort to locate us. Thank you if it was you!

We finally land in the US, the first leg of out trip as we have an onward flight to las vegas. Wow, those immigration guys are SERIOUS. No smiles, no messing about. Fair play to them they do a good job but a little scary all the same. I feel guilty even though I have no reason to be. That reminds me, you have fill in a visa waiver on the plane and it asks you daft questions like 'are you a terrorist'. Well come on..... Coming from the UK and our sense of humor that is just begging for a funny answer. I'm so glad we resisted the temptation.

Got to Vegas and we'd booked a shuttle to take us to the hotel (lady luck) it took a while as we had a lot of hotels to drop people off at but that was great as we had a free strip tour!!

By the time we got the hotel we were soooo tired. We checked in and survayed our room. Broken lamps strange stains. But a huge bed, and sooo comfortable. We opened the curtains to an amazing view. Go down for a drink but are so tired we soon retire to bed. Bed was great. Waking up to the view was great.

We walk to the strip since we'd read it wasn't far (it is) but I'm glad we did because we saw things we wouldn't have seen otherwise.
