Welcome to the OpenVegas “Rate the Member” contest!

The “Rate the Member” has been a great addition to the OpenVegas site and social network since the big software upgrade in 2007. Its main purpose it to recognize the best OpenVegas.com Members for their contributions, honesty and loyalty to this site. It also can have the ability to weed out scammers, baddies, or folks that contribute less than accurate information. This only can happen if our Vegas FUNAtics embrace this feature and use it on a daily basis.

Up until this time, the “Rate the Member” feature/function has been buried within the personal profile pages. There was no clear connection between a members rating and their “Quality of Information” within their profile pages, messages and OV forums.

Up until now our Members had to rely on the simple number of messages posted. This type of system does not provide any useful checks and balances about the member. The results simply show the person has posted X messages. This is just one of the problems of the Internet culture and simple message forums.

In an effort to continue to integrate our powerful “Social Networking” features throughout the entire web site, including the forums... We have installed several upgrades as well as custom enhancements to make this feature more accessible and fun to use. The “Rate the Member” enhancements should be a feature our OpenVegas members use every day.

Legacy Members (LVTalk.com members who were grandfathered to the new site and software in 12/02/07)

We respectively urge our legacy members to take a new look at their profile page. New members to OpenVegas are now required to provide a valid avatar as well as a bit more information about themselves.

There are text boxes within your profile where you can add information. Boxes such as “My First Visit to Las Vegas Was...” and “What I like most about Las Vegas is...”

This will go a long way when you communicate with your fellow Vegas FUNAatics on this site. With one click they can get to know you better and maybe ask you to be a Friend.

If you don't have an Avatar/Picture, then provide one. This is important because really sets the tone for how people will see you. Your avatar is your calling card as you leave messages in our forums as well as contributing photos, blogs, etc through out this social network system. It is a very simple process as easy as clicking on “Change Picture” in MY ACCOUNT, then browsing your hard drive for an image. You don't have to put up a photo of yourself.. just an image that best describes you or what you like best.

Changes to overall page design, backgrounds, colors and stuff like that are very easy and offer another way to share your personality with other members. Our profile pages work very much like the Myspace profiles. If you are too busy to change your colors or backgrounds, there are many myspace layout profile web sites available for free. A simple search on Google.com and a search term such as “Customize Myspace Profile layout” will provide many useful results.

OpenVegas.com is still evolving and growing. It has always been our mission to provide our members with the best unbiased information about Las Vegas possible and offer social networking features in an adult environment.

The social networking aspects of OpenVegas goes further and gives our “Excellent” members a platform for your unique Las Vegas experiences. Of course this includes our photo gallery, video uploads, multimedia blogs, games, polls, quizzes, public & personal calendar, your own public and private message groups, message forums, etc.

2009 will see major updates and changes all in an effort to make this site the best it can be. OpenVegas, with your help, will not only be your vacation guide but the place you can call home.

The main idea of our member rating system is to reward the best contributors of OpenVegas.com – your friends and acquaintances that make your Internet Las Vegas experience fun and enjoyable. But most of all this contest is here to help raise awareness of this feature and all the other social networking tools at your finger tips.

The “Rate the member” contest begins February 6^th and continues until April 30^th 2009. This should give everybody plenty of time to enhance their own profile pages as well as browsing and rating your fellow OV members.

1 is worst.

10 is Excellent.

When browsing member profiles, please use these questions as a guide:

• Does this member have a personal avatar? Or is it a grim black anonymous square of “no image available?”

• Is this member my OpenVegas friend? Did he/she refuse or ignore my friends request?

• Can I view this members profile page? Or is it restricted for friends only?

• Do I like this members profile page design? Is there a design?

• Does their profile page help me to better understand who they are?

• Has this member included information in their profile page? What was their first Las Vegas Vacation like?

• Can I count on the opinions & information this members posts in our message forums and groups?

• Has this member posted Vegas Photos, Videos, Blogs?

You have the ability to rate on a scale of 1 through 10 each and every member of OpenVegas.com once. Click on BROWSE to easily search our members pages. You can also use our GEOMAP to search out members through out the world.

Ratings once accepted can not be changed, modified or “Taken Back.”

You will be contacted via the Email address that is registered for your OV account. Please make sure we have a current email address that you read every day. Click on MY ACCOUNT, SETTINGS and then Account Settings to verify and update if necessary.

Winners will be voice verified via telephone and prizes will be sent via US Mail.

You are responsible for any country, federal, state, or local laws as they pertain to the “Rate the Member Contest”. Non US members will have their prizes sent via US Mail and are responsible for any fees such as check cashing, USD currency exchange issues, etc.

Prize substitutions are not allowed or transferable.

If we are unable to contact a winner or if the prize is not claimed, we reserve the right to use the prizes in future contests.

In accepting the prize, the winner, acknowledges that OpenVegas.com and Charleston Communications will not be held liable for any loss, damages or injury associated with accepting or using the prizes rewarded.

OpenVegas.com and Charleston Communications retain the rights, in its absolute and sole discretion, to make substitutions of equivalent kind or approximate value in the event of the unavailability of any prize or component of the prize for any reason whatsoever.

Checks not cashed will be void after 60 days.

Rules:

You must comply with all of the OpenVegas site rules and code of conduct. Winners must be “Members in good standing.”

In case of a tie, we reserve the right to choose the winner at our discretion, with a coin toss or some other randomization tool.

Administrators, Moderators, Experts, Hosts as well as family and friends of Charleston Communications are free to be rated but are exempt from this contest.

Cheaters are subject to having their account banned or deleted.

VIP Membership prizes are offered at no value and can not be transfered. If a curent VIP member wins, their subscription will be extended.

OpenVegas.com and Charleston Communications reserves the right to withdraw or terminate this contest at any time without prior notice.

We reserve the right to expand and change the “Rate the members” rules, prizes, etc as we see fit.
