Default Buying a Condo

Looking to by a Condo in the greater Las Vegas area, and don't really know anything about Vegas other then the strip and airport. Are there areas I should avoid? This will be a second/vacation home.
Thanks

Now is surely the time to buy ( I on the other hand have a condo that is now worth half of what I paid for it 4 years ago...oh well, will hang on to it with the hopes to break even down the road)...we do own in Henderson in the area called Green Valley Ranch and we are pleased, close to the strip, close to Green Valley casino yet far enough out to feel like a vacation home.

Depending on how much you want to spend, Lake Las Vegas is also lovely, however they are closing or have closed 2 of the 3 golf courses and quite a few places are available and / or abandoned. So sad that this city was so hit in the real estae area, highest foreclosure rate in the country ( right in there with Florida and California) but that makes it a good time to buy

The areas you mentioned to me in email are the ones you should look in . GV, Summerlin, CH , Silverado Ranch, SW are the best areas. Lake Las Vegas is super nice but you saw how expensive their condos are. if you could get away with small sq ft , that would be a perfect place for a vacation home. Also another really nice community is Desert Shores "Mara Largo"

Hello Rhonda!
A lady named Laurie Hilton on Las Vegas – AC n More told me about you. Told me to look up this group and you as I am new here.
My name is Sherry, and I am new to the Las Vegas area. I did not come here to Retire, nor to Gamble away my savings. I did not come here looking for fame and fortune on the Strip, nor to make it Big in the Entertainment industry. I am the company that came to visit and never wanted to leave! LOL…
I came to Vegas for mother’s day to visit my son and loved it so much; he invited me here to live. Although I love Chicago and all its beautiful buildings and skyline; I was blown away by Las Vegas and all of it’s beautiful views! I am a flatlander, so when I was up in Henderson and at Lake Las Vegas and I could see all the beautiful lights below, it just took my breath away! (I know, I heard it already; it’s not high! To a flatlander, it is. LOL) I am still learning my way around and taking in all of the beautiful places to see, such as the Grand Canyon and Lake Mead. I am sure I will be enjoying ALL of the Glitter Vegas has to offer as well!
A Little about me……
I was an active member of a group called the “Sons of Italy”, as well as active in my community such as; helping the Humboldt Park Community Services, a Coordinator for a local Women’s Shelter , the Holiday Committee and the Golf Committee for the Skokie Chamber of Commerce, Wilmette Chamber of Commerce, as well as the Elgin Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Business Association. I come with 14 years experience in the Insurance Industry, as well as a back ground in the Real Estate Industry. Also, I sell the “Miche Bag” handbags, which are Awesome! You can have a bag to match All your outfits in One Bag! They are the hottest new Designer bags to hit the market!
I have also found my new church home already at Central Christian Church in Henderson and am co-leader of a women’s singles group through the church. As soon as I walked into Central, I felt at home! The church and the people are awesome!
I am looking forward to meeting new people and chatting with your group here on Open Vegas!
Sincerely,
Italian Princess 1

Hello ItalianPrincess......glad you came to our site. And welcome to our beautiful city , I'm so glad you like it here. The mountains are so beautiful , I also love looking at the city from higher up. I live in CH so we are elevated and can see the strip etc. You would probably love Mt. Charleston in the winter time, its so pretty up there.

What I love most about this area is the weather is awesome but snow and really good skiing is only 2 hours away, the ocean is only 4 hours away and Grand Canyon and other beautiful state parks are only hours away too, something or someplace to always go. Hope you get to check out Zion and Bryce Canyon and Big Bear is just a day trip if you need snow. Also great skiing at Big Bear.

Be sure to do a profile for your page , invite friends , check out the music , blogs and videos to have fun on here. It is a fun site if you use it that way. I have made many wonderful friends from this site, I'm sure you will too.

I'm really into shoes and handbags, I love Coach and Guess , your bags sound interesting , if you have a web site with them please email me a link to RhonC21@aol.com my other email I have listed here is for business only.

Thanks for introducing yourself , hope to meet you one day......please feel free to come to any meet that sounds interesting to you.
