Default Ballys TR 9/28 - 10/1 and a really big souvenier!

9/28 to 10/1 at Ballys

On the trip is just myself and wife T. We have not been to vegas for about 6 years. Since that time we had our first kid and chose more family type trips, so no trips to vegas. In July she brought up that we should go, told her you can't joke about that, she was serious so I booked thru southwest vacations 3 nights and air for $540. Tried to make it for the week of my birthday, but had to settle for the next week. Basically the theme of the trip was bday and baby making. We finally decided to have one more so this trip is kicking it off. Will save the details on that part other than to say brownchickenbrowncow. If u don't understand say out loud really fast. Also doing this on my blackberry so there maybe some typos.

Arrived via SWA approx 15 min early. Bags came out superfast thinking alright we are rolling now, not so fast my friend! Booked car at alamo. Line way to long, could not use kiosk as booked thru swa. It probably took an hour to get out with the car. Reserved economy ended up with mazda 6. Stopped at walmart to pickup drinks etc. T started comparison shopping, I'm like WTF, we have are in Vegas for little over an hour and your comparing prices!
Arrived at ballys. Very long line, recession? Swa booked us in classic double, did $20 trick, upgraded to a suite. Sweet! Had to wait 30 minutes for the room to be cleaned so went to ichiban sushi in the little mall area at Ballys. Hit the spot $33. Went to the room. Southtower, huge room, huge whirlpool, steam shower, view of north strip. Not renovated, but better than what we would have had if did not upgrade. Seriously, really didn't spend that much time there, so I was pleased. So... Brownchickenbrowncow! Then hit the casinos. We hit paris, planet ho. Ate at some mexican place in the shops. Both had huge burritos again $33. It was pretty tasty. Not much happened gambling. Probably lost about $80. Back to the room as t was getting tired at about 10 or 12 our time. Brownchickenbrowncow! she stayed in and I set out for more fun, get on the elevator and it stops on the next floor down. Here comes a very scantilly clad working girl, must have been another brownchickenbrowncow moment for someone else. Took a cell phone pic of her when we got out, end up blurry. Sorry. She went off to the restroom and I played a little rapid roulette. Played for about an hour ended up approx $100. Feeling hungrey but did not want anything big. Hit the strip ended up at osheas ate some quick BK. Never really played there so hung out there. Saw people playing beer pong. Osheas is what I envision it would be like if a fraternity house had a casino. Found a star trek game. Total blast, won my first bonus round about $120. It went on forever, even the security guard was rooting me on. After playing there and some other places I can't remember, and giving some back, hit the room.
Day 2
This where it gets fuzzy as I am picking this up about a month later. Woke up early and went to ellis island for breakfast. I realize now I forgot the acg coupons backhome. Had cornbeef hash and eggs, t had something light. It was good. Signed up for players card intended to comeback for freeplay, but never did. Started to drink then and made a trip to ceasers. I don't know what it is about that place, but I just don't feel it there. Serioulsy it's kind of blah. I am sure it's a nice resort but whatever. We did stayed for a while and did some shopping. Later we left and went to nathans for lunch. It was nothing great and over priced but that's what u get in vegas. We did the price is right show. Here is the low down. Starts off kind of fun with the anticipation and people are getting into it. But as it drags on most realize they are not going to get to play or win. As that happens it gets quieter and quieter each time a new person is called down. Almost funny. I think the difference is that everyone starts to realize hey I paid $50 freakin bucks for this and get a little pissed. The best part was getting a free digital photo of you photoshopped in front of the big wheel. Friends on facebook loved it. Not worth the $40 or $50 per ticket.

After that headed backout to gamble end up at venetian. We were fairly buzzed at this point. Lost most of out daily bankroll. Excessive booze and gambling don't work for us. . We were pretty hungry and ate at their food court at an asian place. It was pretty good. Expectations were not high at that point. Headed back toward ballys and t wanted the giant miller light bottle they were selling in front of Ballys. So we bought one to share (its our coin bank now) and headed back to the room. Brownchickenbrowncow! She stayed in. I went out for awhile and got propositioned twice in the passage way between ballys and paris. Seriously I never noticed them on past trips. Lost more gambling with slots roulette craps and headed back in.
Last full day and had the car so we decided to go see hoover dam. Stop for breakfast at the little place in boulder city that's says the best damn restaurant. Had a great meal there and then checked out the damn. Our first time there, didn't take the damn tour but was fun to walk around and check it out. T bought some dam souveniers for her work friends. Amazing feat of engineering. Also impressive is the new bypass. The arches are amazing. We headed back as this was our last day and T wanted to go to the mgm grand and the csi experience. The low down on this is if you like the show and want to understand the science better then do it. Good from that standpoint, entertainment value not so much. Afterwards went back to ballys and more Ichiban sushi. They have these great spicy scallop rolls. Tasty Also a aweome miso ginger salad. Not much gambling this day. Did some more shopping, t wanted to go to Todai buffet for more sushi, but I was sushi'd out. Ended up at the spice market buffet. It was ok, probably would have been better spent at a normal restaurant. Not sure why I expected great prime rib considering I live in nebraska. Kind of like coming to nebraska and expecting great seafood! A little more shopping and back to the room. Brownchickenbrowncow. That was it for the night.
Flight was leaving at 630am. T didn't want to get in town late as we both were working the next day and wanted to spend time with our girl, but that time was brutal! I stopped to gas up at an ampm? and they dont take credit cards? wtf? what is this 1979?
When I booked the flights they are normally direct las to oma but I didn't notice the return trip had a stop in phoenix! Only 3 of us on the plane was going on and they announced we now have to change planes. I was basically passed out at that point. They let us board the new plane first so that was cool. Realized later that day left my nice sunglasses on the first plane. That was a drag. Oh yeah had a boarding passes on all flights. Tip if u have a phone with internet do it with that. U don't have print it out since u have to check in any ways. Also didn't mind leaving the agc book at home, takes too much work to fully utilize, like the do what and when we want type of trip. So I probably would not have gotten the worth out of it.

Likes: being in vegas, didn't lose all our bankroll, $20 trick at ballys, ichiban sushi hidden gem and not over priced, star trek slots, hoover dam, price is right picture, brownchickenbrowncow. Dislikes priceisright price as adam sandler said in happy gilmore...the price is wrong bob!, nathans over rated over priced, ceasers casino just not feeling it, csi experience kind of blah. ampm gas station not taking CC's and losing my shades. But when it all comes to, I was still in vegas having a good time and even the bad stuff is better than a good day working.
Looks like T may have a convention in March so we maybe back.

Well its been over a month now, I guess what happens in vegas does not always stay in vegas. T is preggers. It is still is early but we are excited. What can I say, I get the job done! Here is a topic for you, what do you name a baby made in vegas? Later!

Nice report, and congrats on "getting the job done!" Name for a baby made in Vegas? Easy: Frank, Dean (or Martin), Sam (or Davis), or Joey.

Nice report! We saw the place in Ballys and were tempted to try it last night. Guess we should check it out when we are there in a few weeks.

I dont think I could do a 6:30am flight home from Vegas.. that would be torture!

Brownchickenbrowncow! ? ? ? In my day it was Mak'en Bacon. Guess I'm not up on the latest barnyard boogie.

Good trip report and congratulations. Hookers? You don't need no stink'en hookers!
