Default Stay at Monte Carlo Recently? Monte Carlo or NYNY?

Has anyone stayed at Monte Carlo recently? I will be in Vegas from June 29- July 3 and have a reservation there. Im debating going somewhere else due to possibility of getting a room with bad construction noise. Can anyone share recent experiences at MC? If I cancel there, I would stay at New York New York. Which one is nicer?

Hi!

While I haven't ever stayed at the Monte Carlo, NY NY was very nice. I do think there is some noise there from the roller coaster though.

I stayed there a bit under 2 months ago. No noise and no complaints. I love the hotel and stay there multiple times a year. When you go to check in, just to be on the safe side, ask for a higher room in the 300 wing. The 300 wing is the wing of rooms which is on the NYNY side of the hotel (opposite of City Center construction). We were in that wing on the 19th floor (requested at check-in and given no problems) and there was absolutely no noise at all. Not one complaint, and my g/f is a VERY light sleeper...

I say keep the reservations at MC.
Enjoy!

There is no longer a parking garage at the Monte Carlo. It was razed for construction.

I heard that some sort of parking accomodation was made for people who have a room at the Monte Carlo, but I am not sure what it is. It might have been valet only (and only for people with rooms) or something like that. I don't precisely remember.

If it is valet only that would concern me as I like to come and go quickly.

NYNY still has their self parking garage.

So if you will have a car, I would suggest finding out what the current parking situation is at Monte.

They are such completely different places, we have stayed at both. We love the MC. It is a much quieter, less congested hotel though. Pool area is great. Not much noise if you get a room high up in the 300 wing, otherwise I have heard from others that it does get quite noisy from the Project City Center. NYNY is great place, but always congested and crowded. Also the pool there is just a square cement slab and it is in shade a great part of the day. If you can get the concierge floor at the MC you can visit the lounge and enjoy a continental breakfast, sandwich fixin's at lunch time and drinks and snacks in the evening. Depends on how young you are and if you like a loud, jumping hotel or a more quiet, sedate place to hang your hat. Rooms are decent in both places.

I'll be staying at Monte Carlo July 1st, checking out July 3rd.

From what I'm hearing, there is a fairly small parking lot over by the poker room. We are taking our chances because we will have a car for the week. Though once we get to the MC, we probably won't go too far considering it will be our only 2 nights (out of 8 total) that are spent on strip.

Rooms are fine, casino is great, nice food selection too, especially on the cheaper end. Its kind of a home base for us, as we've stayed there more than any other hotel so far in Vegas, and its been just about the only choice on strip.

I don't think I could stay at NYNY due to the crowds and the walking patterns within the casino.

Haven't stayed at either but I don't think I would choose MC, its just like a dead place to me, makes me feel numb.
NYNY on the other hand is full of life, casino to casino connected to MGM, lots of action, so without a doubt: NYNY.

We was there in December, in what is supposed to be the "slow" season, and rented a car.

After about 6PM of nights, the parking lot got very tight for spaces. Friday night, Saturday and Sunday it was almost impossible to find a space.

As much as we like the MC, we will not be returning until the Centre City project is completed.

Did you find a space on Friday Saturday or Sunday night? or was the lot truly completely full? Almost impossible is better than totally impossible.

The rooms at Monte Carlo are nice and the pool area is a lot of fun. They also have a good food court. Besides, you can always walk to NYNY if you want a more happening casino.

Weis,

I just came back from Vegas last week and spent 9 days at the Monte Carlo. Had never stayed there before - NYNY was always one of our favorites - but we wanted to try a new place.

I loved the casino and the hotel. There is a nice buffet and a 24 hr cafe that I am told makes a great BLT although I didn't eat there. Also, there's a nice steakhouse, and a food court with a Starbucks (a must for the Vegas stay-up-all-night traveler ). It's not too too big so you're not walking for days, and it's nice and quietish (compared to NYNY).

The pool area is great too, with a wave pool and a little lazy river (although the lazy river is better at MGM but hey who cares?)

I was in room 22-305 in the 300 Tower, and with a $10 tip got a view of the Strip (okay it was really a view of MGM, NYNY, Polo Towers and Paris). I heard no noise whatsoever up there.

The rooms were very nice and clean, nothing too fancy but just as nice as NYNY in my opinion.

I would recommend it to anyone, however, be aware they are extremely cheap with their comps, only comping me one day of room service for alot of slot play and they won't take your card at all unless your play is $25 and up. I found NYNY to be better with comps when I stayed there but again that was 5 years ago and everyone was better with comps then.

Also, we got coupons when we booked our trip plus they were giving away coupons out front of the hotel so 3 times during our trip we ate a buy one/get one free breakfast buffet there.

I tried to post a pic of the room here but it didn't work.

From our room in the 300 wing, the one away from the noise, we were able to see the parking lot. Far more cars than spaces.

We go out of mornings, in by 3PM, but on weekends it was tight to find a spot.
