Default Silverton or South Point

Hi
I am going to Vegas in early December and decided to stay 2 nites at either the Silverton or South Point...the rates are the same...
Which would you recommend and why ??
I am going just to play Blackjack and the slot machines,,,and have some drinks and the buffets...
Do they both have decent slot machine payouts or looser machines than the strip....and is the blackjack decent with 3:2...
Thanks
Ken

I would go with the South Point for the restaurants, rooms, and "resort" feel. Then I'd head over to the Silverton for the fish tank. SP has cafe specials that cant be beat. Plus theres the Tequila room upstairs (dont miss that).

What's the attraction down there? I mean, why not stay on the strip or downtown?

I assume the attraction is financial. I too would stay on the strip, MGM or something, but if I had to choose one, its South Point

Not unless the rooms are comped. South Point gets $80/night during the week, and the best I'm seeing for Silverton is $60/night weekdays. I can beat that a dozen different ways; both downtown and on the Strip.

No. The only reason someone would stay down there is because he wants to be there.

Have stayed both places several times. South Point gets my vote - nicer accommodations, better food and decent video poker. Have a wonderful time - there is no good gaming on the Strip.

There never was good gaming on the Strip, and probably never will be. You'll do better downtown, but the best gambling conditions are at casinos that cater to locals.

Like both houses casinos. South Point is the better overall property.

I prefer the Silverton. Granted, South Point may have nicer, more modern rooms, but I prefer the personality of the Silverton casino far beyond that of the Costco warehouse-like South Point. I like Silverton's variety of restaurants and their buffet better as well. And the Bass Shop adjoined to the Silverton is always worth a walk-through.

I always have way more luck on the slots at Silverton.
