Where Do People Meet People?

I know this sounds somewhat feeble-minded, but the question is sincere. Being a mostly solo Vegas traveler, and a widower, I'd like to know where I might go to meet other folks on a purely friendly basis. By "folks" I mean nice people (not unlike the people here). If I want to mingle with weirdos (and sometimes I do) I can go to the El Cortez. But for a high likelihood of reasonably sane, mature company where might I go?

TripAdvisor has some really good meets with really nice people.

These guys party a little too hard for me, but maybe that is your thing.

Hey Gene, I wondering where you was. I havent seen you about for a while. Have you been busy?
Nice to see you back.

I would recommend going off-strip. This will get you away from most of the young 20-something crowd.

The lounges at Orleans and Gold Coast feature either Dixieland Jazz or Swing bands a couple of nights a week, and obviously attract an older audience. They are also drawn there for the reasonable dining and better gambling.
