Baby Moose/Mom

<

One post in the comments section asked, "what are the moose doing in your backyard??"

The person who took the video replied, "Here in Alaska, we are in their backyard ;) "

More comments from the videographer

"They were thirsty and there is a creek down the street. I'm not sure why they didn't head down there that day. Also, the scars are how we keep track of her throughout the year."

"The mother was breathing so hard that day and when we realized that she was hot, I put the sprinkler out for them. The babies were so excited that they would run within 5 feet of us and played in the sprinkler about 30 minutes. That is why the camera angle is so close."

"Actually we were on the porch and within 20 yards of them (close enough to the door to make a hasty retreat if needed.) They didn't show any concern at our presence. It is really rare that moose charge humans and usually only if hemned in or being harrassed. These and other moose frequent the yard often. Playtime in the sprinkler just made the best video."

My Vacation
Posted On 07/21/2008 20:54:25
My Vacation is over :(

I guess its time to get back to work now lol.  I had a great time in Charleston. We had a beach house on Seabrook Island.  That is a very private island which is guard gated and very protected and its  so gorgeous in there.  I have never been to one place where you can see so much different wild life animals in one setting .

In the back yard there is an alligator that lives about 6 to 8 ft from the back deck. We fed him all the time.  He loved our pancakes and he loves corn on the cob lol. We named him Wally. One night we were standing on the deck watching him and someone knocked a plastic bowl over the edge and it must of irritated him because he was up to the deck in seconds and took the bowl and he was shaking it from side to side , then took it into the water,of course we never seen that bowl again. He was very entertaining to watch.

In the front yard every morning and evening there were so many deer, they would come right up to the house as long as we stayed on the deck.

My brothers mother in law (who owns the beach house) keeps feed at the house all the time for the deer, so they stick close by. We also put seeds out all over the deck which keeps the birds and squirrels close by. The raccoons are not to shy either, they know they can come to this house and find food.

It was great to walk down to the beach every day. I loved that it is a private beach ,didn't have to share with to many people. The weather was nice two days I was there, the rest of the time it was cloudy or raining. We still spent a lot of time on the beach though. We also made some drinks and went down at night with our flashlights , I enjoyed chasing the crabs back into the water LOL .

My brothers taught me how to play corn hole ( I think is the name of it) and I really sucked at it, but one of them are going to send me that game so I can practice for the next time but I think horse shoes is still more fun to play.

Down town Charleston was so interesting with all the historical homes and buildings. Those houses are just amazing. It was so hot and humid , thank God for the fountains we could get wet in. We were at this one  historical cemetery and the oldest head stone I found was from 1721. You could read most of the head stones but some were hard to read.

Now  I have to tell you about the "TREE" it is the most amazing tree I have ever seen in my life. It is huge !! Its the Angel Oak Tree. The branches are so big they have 2x4 boards holding them up to give them support. The trunk is so big it makes you look tiny when you stand by it. I cant wait to post pictures of this tree.  It is very protected  and guarded . No one is allowed to climb on it and if anyone is caught doing anything to this tree its a 5,000 dollar fine and jail time. I know without seeing it  , it is hard to imagine how massive it is but its height is 75 feet, Circumference is 25.5 ft,  It covers 17,000 sq feet of shade ,The largest limb circumference is 11.25 feet and the length of it is 89 feet, The tree is about 1400 years old.

The worse part of this trip was coming home.  When I got to the airport I found our flight was delayed by 45 min but that was nothing compared to our connecting flight , we got to DC and we were hurrying to get to our plane because of the delay in Charleston but when we got to the gate we found it was delayed 3 hours so we hang out in the AP all day just to find that now our  flight is not leaving till the next morning. So United got us a room. It just sucked !!  I was so happy to finally arrive in my beautiful Vegas.

I will try to post pictures as soon as I can especially of the tree, but on the last day at the beach it was very windy and I think I got sand in the camera so after work today , I get to look for a camera repair shop lol.

Its good to be back home

In Memory Of Irishmick !!
Posted On 06/24/2008 22:17:39

I'm new at making these slide shows and unfortunately we only had two pictures of him (Thanks Blonde) but I did the best I could with what I had and know of him. I chose this song for his wife although she will probably never see this.

I also had this poem that I thought would be nice.

When tomorrow starts without me and I am not there to see
if the sun should rise and find your eyes all filled with tears for me

I wish so much you would not cry the way you did today.
While thinking of the many things we did not get to say.

I know how much you love me as much as I love you.
And each time that you think of me , I know you will miss me too.

But when tomorrow starts without me, please try to understand,
that an angel came and called my name and took me by the hand

And said my place was ready in, heaven far above, and that I would have to leave behind
All those I dearly loved.

But when I walked through heavens gate , I felt so much at home. When God looked down and smiled at me from his great golden throne.

He said"This is eternity, and all I promised you "
Today for life on earth is past, but here it starts anew.

I promise no tomorrow, for today will always last, and since each days the same way,
There is no longing for the past.

So when tomorrow starts without me , do not think were far apart.
For every time you think of me, I am right there in your heart .

New Years Eve At Rhonda's
Posted On 01/03/2008 15:36:10
A Friend of mine titled this lol.......My New Years Eve party was a lot of fun. My sister, Me and our husbands started cooking and working for this party around 8 am that day . My sister made a great home made Sangria wine which her and I started on at 1 pm. By 6 pm, our guess were coming and the decorations were up and food was done. We had enough food to feed an army , we are still eating it lol.

We started out playing a game called LCR.....its the greatest dice game ever and it will definitely break the ice for people who do not know each other. We played with quarters. Cant remember who won the jack pot but it wasn't ME !!

11:00 one of my friends fell asleep on the couch, keeping in mind he drank a whole bottle of rum to himself. We started painting lipstick mustache on his face and sticking our tongues in his ear for pictures the next day lol. It took a few guys to get him up my stairs to a bed.

But the highlight of the night was at midnight we all walked up to my balcony so we could see the fire works going off on the strip. When that was over we all went back down but one stayed up there and jumped off my balcony in to a 38 degree pool. He had to clear 14 ft of decking just to make it into the shallow end of the pool which is only 3 ft deep, there was no way possible for him to make it to the 7ft end. I seriously do not know how he did not kill himself or parallelize himself. While that is going on his brother was standing by tiki torches and a patio heater, he was startled by his brother jumping into the pool that he backed up into the patio heater and caught himself on fire. My sister cant move when she see's this.... she just points and says hes on fire, so we run out and try to put him out, at this time he doesn't even know he is on fire, but now the flames are getting bigger and near his hair , I ran for a hose and was telling people to push him into the pool but another friend got his shirt off him. Thinking back on it all now it was hilarious but at the time I was mad at them for getting that drunk lol.

All and all it was a fun time was had by all  and nothing bad came out of what could of been a disaster , not even one spilled drink or broken glass " I think God was at my party" : )

HAPPY 2008 TO US ALL !!!
